FOUNDER of TEEN CHALLENGE: DAVID WILKERSON
It all began with a compassionate heart and a relentless drive to make a difference. At Wabash Valley Adult and Teen Challenge, we often revisit the inspiring genesis of our organization, rooted in the unwavering dedication of our founder, David Wilkerson.
David Wilkerson's journey started in the 1950s, when he felt an unshakable calling to bring hope to troubled youth ensnared by addiction and despair. Moved by compassion, he ventured into the heart of New York City, a place where many had given up hope on those trapped in the cycle of addiction.
Driven by a deep sense of purpose and armed with unyielding faith, David began reaching out to young individuals on the streets, offering them a lifeline of love, support, and a way out of the darkness THROUGH JESUS. This marked the birth of Teen Challenge.
Against all odds, the movement grew, fostering a community built on empathy, understanding, and second chances. The power of faith, combined with a genuine belief in the potential for transformation, became the cornerstone of Teen Challenge's approach.
Here at Wabash Valley Adult and Teen Challenge, we are honored to continue this legacy of compassion and empowerment. Every day, we strive to embody the Holy Spirit, extending a helping hand and fostering a safe haven for individuals seeking recovery and healing.
Our roots run deep, stemming from a single act of kindness that blossomed into a global movement dedicated to guiding individuals toward a brighter, addiction-free future in Jesus.
GANGS AND ADDICTION TO WORLDWIDE TRANSFORMATION, we're not just writing history; we're rewriting destinies.
